40+ English & Culture

Our schools offer adult courses for people of all ages and our friendly approach means that no one feels “too old” for our classes. However, for those who prefer to study with people of similar age and interests, we have put together the 40+ English & Culture Course.

Did you know? The Battle of Hastings is the most significant moment in the history of the English language. The English King, was defeated by the French and for the following 300 years the official language was French! This is why the English we speak today includes so much French vocabulary.

The 40+ course is an enjoyable way to practise your English and become more confident at communicating. You will study English every morning, practising communication skills to use during the afternoon excursions.

You will concentrate particularly on speaking, listening and reading skills, and the vocabulary and grammar necessary for social situations and guided tours.

The Activity Programme will include 3 half-day excursions per week and 1 full day excursion per week. The afternoon excursions will introduce you to some of the famous places around Hastings, and the full day excursions will take you further afield to London and Windsor.
