If you are looking to learn English, Shane Global Language Centres offer a wide range of English courses at our English schools in London and Hastings.

All Shane Global Schools are accredited, so you can make sure that you will be placed in a small class with experienced and qualified teachers.

The main emphasis of our classes is on practical oral communication to help you develop fluency and confidence. Our teachers will help you to achieve your goals with a help of a course book and supplemented with extra materials such as games, role playing, newspapers and non-print media to make classes fun, interactive and imaginative.

Lessons

Our teachers aim to meet your needs in each particular class. Course books are supplemented to reflect your interests and to incorporate authentic, topical materials. Generally, the focus is upon oral communication, in response to the class' demand. You have lots of opportunity in class to speak English, to work on the skills that you need outside of the classroom and to become more confident in English.

You will also have opportunities to practise all other skills, grammatical structures and vocabulary.

Course Materials

You will use a course book for the General English course. The cost of the first book is charged when the student enrols at the school. 
You need to buy another course book for the IELTS preparation course.

Placement Test

The schools use a standard placement test to place you into the appropriate level (number of levels may vary from school to school).

Evaluation & Feedback

You will receive a written progress test at regular intervals, based on the materials you have covered in class.

In addition, you will have a tutorial with your teacher to discuss your progress and your personal study goals.

Long-term students also receive a written progress report, outlining the points covered in the tutorial.

The written test and teacher evaluation form the basis upon which the student can change levels.

Informal weekly tests in a variety of formats are given at the discretion of the teacher to consolidate and revise the week's work.

In order to maintain the highest quality, we ask for student feedback in the following formats:

• First day/week questionnaire
• Leaving questionnaire, with feedback on all aspects of the student's stay. This is analysed monthly

Course Certificates

All students who successfully complete their course are awarded an official certificate indicating length and type of course.  Students are also given a final written report from academic staff, if requested.

• IF YOU APPLY FOR A COURSE WITH A CERTIFICATE THAT STATES THAT YOU HAVE A LEVEL OF ELEMENTARY OR ABOVE, AND  WE DISCOVER THAT YOU ARE A  BEGINNER WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT SCHOOL - YOU WILL HAVE TO TAKE PRIVATE LESSONS AT EXTRA COST UNTIL YOU ARE ABLE TO JOIN AN ELEMENTARY CLASS.
